Different Types of Dreams
I can actually categorize my dreams into different types.
Lucid Dreams
Lucid dreaming is when you’re aware that you’re dreaming. This has only happened to me once, and then it was only for a short time within the dream.
Story Dreams
These kind of dreams are almost like following a story line. I could almost call them recurrent, but it seems to happen only in one dream. Its almost like I dream a story, then I dream it again, except I know what is going to happen and I can anticpate events, and even change them.
Recurrent Dreams
I spent eight years in the United States Marine Corps, and I guess it has had quite an effect on me. Every now and then, I’ll dream I’m back in the Corps. They’re not bad dreams, but are certainly disquieting. They usually involve me reenlisting, even though I’ve got a good job and a good marraige.
Flying Dreams
I love dreams in which I’m flying. These actually come in three flavors for me.
- Jumping Dreams - This is when I jump straight up. Usually incredibly high. Coming back down doesn’t usually hurt.
- Struggling to Fly Dreams - I can fly, but it takes a real effort. I almost feel like I’m swimming.
- Smooth Flying Dreams - No effort here. I can swoop around pretty good.
As with most of my flying dreams, I’m afraid to go too high. That fear is usually coupled with high-tension power lines. They’re hard to avoid.
